After 5 years of faithful service my Doxy 3 finally buzzed its last buzz. And so it was time for a new wand, and after shopping around I decided on the Doxy 3R. Doxy has a very good reputation for longevity and great customer service if anything does go wrong. Using a brand I know and trust seems like a no-brainer, and with their new, wireless wand available, I thought it was worth trying.

Visual appeal and packaging 4/5

I really liked the packaging on this one, it was sleek and not overly cumbersome, it felt reasonably environmentally conscious though that is a boring positive. The product itself looks identical to the Doxy 3 with the exception of the cable. The 3Rs cable plugs into the butt of the wand when it needs charging. Other than that it is wireless! I really enjoyed the wireless version, it upgraded my experience to a more free, convenient and comfortable trip down pleasure lane. There are different head attachments available, unfortunately I have not tried these so I cannot review them for you at this time.

Functionality 4/5

I love the functions on this, it’s the same as the Doxy 3 so I don’t need to learn a whole new system. On/off button, the plus sign increases the vibration and the subtraction button decreases the vibration. If you hold the on/off button in it will activate the pulsing setting, it is incredibly simple but effective. A bonus for those who like to enjoy their toys in the dark, backlit buttons ensure you never press the wrong one. Being an updated version of the Doxy 3, the 3R has the same shape and size head, meaning it fits between your legs comfortably and is not as bulbous as the Doxy 1 was. Not being waterproof, this is a toy better suited to the bedroom, however it is travel friendly.

Vibration style and material 4/5

The vibration style is the same as the wired version 3, low and rumbly. I haven’t noticed it being less powerful or different in any way. It is still a metal die cast wand and a silicone head, the head is small like the 3 so it fits between your legs well and is easy to clean. The metal gives it a sleek look and comes in a few colours for you to choose from.

Wow factor/pleasure 3/5

The Doxy 3R was a pleasant surprise. At first I was sceptical, I was worried it wouldn’t have any power or would lose charge easily. But all these concerns have been unfounded and I have loved not having to lay on a wire or get tangled up. But at the same time it hasn’t been anything groundbreaking or revolutionary, they didn’t reinvent the wheel with this one but the upgrades to the battery and wireless tech have made a great difference.

Overall 3/5

Overall the Doxy 3R was worth the reinvestment for me, it’s light, quiet and thanks to the wireless upgrade, you don’t get tangled up in the wires. Though it is on the pricier end of the market, the brand has a history of well made products that live up to their price tag, I feel that this is money well spent. While there aren't groundbreaking improvements compared to previous versions, the 3R has been a pleasure, if you're on the fence, maybe you can use the Doxy 3R to get off.
