Welcome to our Local LGBTQI+ Mental and Sexual Health Support Services directory for Adelaide. We have compiled a list of services and resources that are specifically tailored to the needs of the Queer community in Adelaide. Our directory is designed as a place to start for anyone in the community who is looking for support and resources for their mental, sexual and overall health.

 

Our directory includes a range of mental health services, such as individual counselling, group therapy, and support groups. These services are provided by healthcare professionals who are trained to provide culturally sensitive and inclusive care to the LGBTQI+ / Queer community.

 

In addition to mental health services, our directory also includes sexual health services such as STI testing and treatment, PrEP and PEP, and sexual health counselling. These services are designed to provide our clients with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions about their sexual health.


South Australia Rainbow Alliance

The South Australian Rainbow Advocacy Alliance (SARAA) is a volunteer-based community-led charity, founded in 2013. We are a group of passionate advocates for the rights of LGBTIQA+ people and have a wide range of lived experiences of queerness, gender, and background. At SARAA, we believe that including LGBTIQA+ people in society and protecting our rights benefits everyone because it keeps people safe, healthy, and free to be themselves. Our purpose is to work together to advocate, inform and educate for a LGBTIQA+ inclusive and safe South Australia.


Trans Health (SA)

Trans Health South Australia (SA) is proud to offer the South Australian gender diverse community a resource operated, and influenced, BY the community. Trans Health SA proudly hosts the TransHealthSA Directory as well as resources for the community to seek support and social engagement. Input and guidance from the community is always welcomed and encouraged.


Drop In Care Space Adelaide

Drop-In Care Space is a 100% peer and volunteer-led community centre for LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent and disabled individuals in Adelaide to drop in and connect with peers, enjoy activities and take a break!


SAMESH

SAMESH was created in 2015 as part of a joint initiative between lead agency, SHINE SA and Thorne Harbour Health (formerly the Victorian AIDS Council), this innovative approach to service delivery answers a need within South Australian for community-based support for education, training and advocacy of sexual health and HIV. Our purpose is to work together to advocate, inform and educate for a LGBTIQA+ inclusive and safe South Australia.


Shine (Gender Connect Country SA)

Do you live in Country SA and have questions about being or supporting those who identify as transgender, gender diverse or gender questioning? SHINE SA’s Gender Connect Country SA is a FREE service that provides confidential support from peer workers with lived experience of gender diversity.


Thorne harbour health

Thorne Harbour Health SA support the health and wellbeing of our LGBTIQA+ communities and people living with HIV in South Australia through a range of free programs, campaigns, and services. Our Alcohol and Other Drug and Mental Health programs are tailored to meet the specific needs of our communities and deliver person-centred, trauma informed, sex positive, culturally safe and affirming care. The Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) team provide a range of individual and group programmes to LGBTIQA+ people and their family members seeking information or interested in addressing their problematic substance.

Our team ensures a safe, inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable and celebrated. Rainbow Door (Charlee)

Rainbow Door is a free specialist LGBTIQA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Gender Diverse, Intersex, Queer, Asexual, BrotherBoys, SisterGirls) helpline providing information, support, and referrals


Q Life

QLife provides Australia-wide anonymous, LGBTI peer support and referral for people wanting to talk about a range of issues including sexuality, identity, gender, bodies, feelings or relationships. QLife services are free and include both telephone and webchat support, delivered by trained LGBTI community members across the country.


Trans Hub (NSW)

This platform is an initiative from ACON, NSW’s leading health organisation specialising in community health, inclusion and HIV responses for people of diverse sexualities and genders. One of the key priority areas that emerged throughout our extensive consultation process was the need for clear and easy information about gender affirmation and health for trans and gender diverse people in NSW.


We understand that finding the right support can be difficult, especially for those who identify as LGBTQI+. Discrimination and a lack of understanding from healthcare providers can make it challenging to access the care you need. That’s why our directory is here to help. We have put together a list of services and resources that are dedicated to providing safe, inclusive, and welcoming support to the LGBTQI+ community in Adelaide.
